Electrical Safety

The electrical system at Moulton Village Hall is checked for safety every three years by an electrical contractor approved by the licensing authority which is Cheshire West & Chester Council

All 13 Amp socket outlets are protected by Residual Current Devices which turn off the power when a fault condition is detected. Portable equipment provided for the use of hall users is subjected to a Portable Appliance Test. In the event that any hall user plugs an item of electrical equipment which results in a loss of power it is likely that the equipment is faulty. It must not be used until it has been inspected by a competent person.

13A socket covers

All 13 Amp socket outlets in the premises comply with BS1363 which required that the sockets are shuttered to prevent small fingers or artifacts being inserted into the socket. Some hall users have asked about the need for protective covers for the 13A socket outlets. These are not required and may even reduce safety.
