A year in Focus - IMPP’S News

We have published two Newsletters this year, one in January and one in April. In February we held a 60’s dance night at the Verdin Club, fronted by Norman Curzon and his band. Our thanks to the Verdin club for their support which made this event possible. Our first AGM was held in May and the following were elected to the Steering Committee: Allan Burgess,Chairman:Tel:592876, Frances Bennett, Secretary: Tel: 59267,

 Laura Williams, Treasurer Tel: 554339

In June the events committee organised a walking treasure hunt around the Village, which was enjoyed by all who attended. We will be having another treasure hunt early next   summer so watch out for details.

At the Crow Fair the Moulton Crow Dance was performed this time, as traditionally done, by the men of the village. We are hoping for an even bigger event next year on July 14th and 15th 2007 when we are having a French Theme. Make this a date for your diary.

In September a Pound The Bounds took place and despite the weather  many participated and all finished, some maybe a little weather beaten!

All of these events require volunteers but we are finding that the organisers are a small band of people. If the Crow Fair is to grow and prosper we need more help on the day. If you would like to be on  the committee, please contact any of the steering committee above for more information.                             Fran Bennett

Text Box: Is Church life, and village life, a bit like a soap opera? Characters come and go. Stories develop and fade. But perhaps the essence remains the same or evolves.
Things have changed a bit at St Stephen’s in the last few months. Andy Greenough and family moved to New Ferry last year and since May the parish has had a new vicar. My name is Robin Forrester and my wife is Jenny. We have five children, and they are all grown up. We have four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren – rather complicated, but lovely children.
So, we have joined onto the continuing story of St Stephen’s and Moulton. We are very grateful for the warm welcome both at the church, and from the people we have met around the village and in community groups. Thank you all very much.
St Stephen’s story continues to evolve. Recently the church has been filled on several occasions: My licensing by the Bishop; Three baptisms on the same day welcomed Callum, Deni and Lily and their families; Two weddings on Crow Fair Saturday. Sadly, funerals also tend to fill the church. School Harvest Festival thrilled parents and friends who listened to the boys and girls. Big days coming up are the important Remembrance Day on Nov 12th (10am) and many Christmas events that we will be publicising. The last day to hand in Operation Christmas Child boxes is Nov. 19th. On Friday, December 1st the Condate Singers will help us with our continuing 130th birthday celebrations (tickets on sale soon).
It’s not standing room only every week (yet) but we are glad to welcome around 60 people on Sunday mornings at 10.45 – leaving room for you! In action during the week are study groups and curry nights etc – spiritual and social! We are so pleased to find ourselves in a vibrant church in a lively community. Of course we can always do better and we are looking at ways of widening our appeal and opportunities for service. And the stories go on of course… Robin Forrester (Tel: 593355).

Saturday 25th November, in the Village Hall  from 1.30pm. All village           organisations are invited to have a stall.  Contact Denise Watkinson on 593542 for details.

Father Christmas will be in his Winter Wonderland so all you young folk come along and visit him. At 4.30pm the Christmas tree lights will be switched on,  followed by a Carol singing session led by the brass band from the County High School, Leftwich.
