IMPLEMENTATION MOULTON PARISH PLAN

Our AGM is on Wednesday 13th May at 7.45 p.m. at Moulton Adventure Group Building on School Lane.
This is our opportunity to share with you how the Actions arising from the  Parish Plan are progressing and to discuss what  is needed for the future.  Everyone is welcome to the meeting  and light refreshments will be provided.

The River Weaver

Boat

Last June, IMMPs promoted Moulton village at the Anderton Boat Festival on a very windy weekend.  We had some good responses from the boating fraternity who were not aware of  how close we are to the River Weaver. They were grateful for the information we passed on about the shops and pubs - we have a short walk from the Vale Royal Locks, Newbridge and the mooring area. No more walking all the way into Northwich for a loaf of bread and a bottle of milk. It also brought to our stand a number of past residents of Moulton and it was nice to hear their memories of yesteryear.

With the Weaver Navigation Society, we hope to have some signs at Newbridge and Vale Royal Locks to let river users know the way to Moulton. This event led us to hold a talk about the River Weaver including Moulton and surrounding area complete with slides by Colin
Edmundson.  This was a joint  venture between IMMP and Pre-School and was complimented by a Hot Pot Supper.  It was a great success and we hope that we can have something similar later in the year.

IMPP Youth Club

Moulton Youth Club is open every other Wednesday 7-9 p.m. If you are aged between 9 and 14 come down to the Adventure Group Building at any session  and have a look .

It offers leisure activities such as pool, table tennis, arts and crafts, games etc for only £1 entry. The young people enjoy socialising with friends, listening to music and joining in activities in an informal atmosphere. Activities are planned on a termly cycle, which include visits e g. bowling. The rota of activities is available at the start of each term.

We are always on the look out for young adults/ adult volunteers to help run the sessions.
Any volunteer will need to have a CRB  check which we will arrange. Anyone interested in volunteering or finding out more about the youth club can contact:

MOULTON EVENTS 2009

Pound The Bounds Sunday - 17 May 2008

You can run, jog or walk the approx. 4 ½ miles around our Village Boundaries and experience the beautiful  Cheshire countryside which we sometimes forget surrounds us. The cost is only £1 per head and Registration takes place in the Car Park of the Lion Public House from 1.30 –1-55 pm on Sunday 17th May 09. Pushchairs are not advised due to the kissing gates which have to be negotiated and children must be accompanied.
Winner
The event itself is started from the Playing Field Car Park at 2 pm and finishes back at the Lion. Stewards will be on hand around the course for your safety.
So do come and join us as a family for an enjoyable Ramble, Walk. Jog or Run!  There has been an improvement in the footpath between the railway bridge and Vale Royal Locks.

Business

The committee have thought about the idea of advertising local businesses on the Moulton website.  This could be a first port of call if you require a plumber, carpet fitter, decorator, computer repairer etc.

For a small annual charge the cost of producing and maintaining our website would be met and may bring in further business to our advertisers.  If you are interested in using this service please contact Allan Burgess  01606 592876 or any committee member.( see back page for details.)

SMYLE - "Supporting MY Local Environment" campaign.

Vale Royal District Council may have been replaced but we still 'have the gear' for D-I-Y cleaning in the village. The small band of helpers who regularly do their bit is so small that you can count the members on one hand ! Come on you people with a conscience. There are so many litter-louts of all ages, but mainly the young ones, who make our village an eyesore. Don't be afraid to take a set of equipment. Wearing a fluorescent jacket isn't compulsory if you'd rather not. Just call Ray Pearson on 551461 and leave your name, number and address for him to arrange to give you equipment which will enable safe, hygienic and comfortable social work.

Traffic

The village gets very busy at school times and at rush hours and on occasion there are problems with buses and delivery vans having to make difficult manoeuvres causing frustration and anger.
Mums dropping children off at school and picking them up later in the afternoon can also cause congestion problems.
Breakdown
To reduce this problem a walking bus idea was aired some time ago so that children could walk safely to school under supervision. Discussions took place but in the end no progress was made. Is it now time to revisit this idea especially in this economic climate? The problem  with parking will not go away, despite being raised  with Cheshire Highways in the past no solution has been found.
Car Inconsiderate parking in general and on grass verges in particular is also a problem. The deterioration of the verges soon becomes an eyesore when they should be an attractive feature of the village.
Any ideas contact IMPPs see back page.

Safe Route to The County High School, Leftwich
We thought that a fence along the A556 had been agreed with the Highways Department, but when it was built, the most dangerous part of the A556 was left unfenced.  We had a meeting with our new Councillors for Cheshire West & Chester in order to explain the problem and to seek their support.

Crowfair Saturday 18 July 2009

Crow Fair The must put in your diary date for this year’s Crowfair is Saturday 18th July starting at 1.30pm and ending at 5.30pm.
Arena events are currently being booked and organised but we can already guarantee a band  and of course Moulton’s very own CROWMEN and their unique dance.

There will be Beer and Refreshment Tents as well as Hot Food and a host of stalls from all the Village Organisations and some from outside the village.
All stalls raise funds for their own particular group but pay us a pitch fee as we do not charge admission, these moneys pay for the costs of staging the event e.g. Musicians, Insurance, First Aid, Toilets, Events Licence and Arena Entertainments amongst others.
You are invited to come and enjoy the afternoon with us.
There is always work to be done in setting up and closing the event such as moving tables and chairs from and to the Village Hall, putting up and taking down tents (big and small), carrying items on and off the field as vehicles are not allowed on the field.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
We also need help in running stalls, games/activities, selling programmes and obtaining Raffle/Grand Tombola Prizes. Even if you can only give us an hour or  two of your time it would be much appreciated – many hands make light work.
Finally would stall holders please confirm their attendance and activity to Peter as soon as possible.

Environment

Would you like to see more trees in the village? This is an ongoing part of the Parish Plan and one we have been working closely with the Parish Council.  Trees unfortunately have had to be felled due to disease but three trees have been planted in the Village in the last year.
Wastebin

Another of the things that the Parish Plan highlighted was the absence of seating around the village. The problem is that although it is a reasonable idea, no one wants seats near to their property. A seat has been provided by the War Memorial.  If any of you have any suggestions on how we can resolve this please get in touch with us or the Parish Council.

At present the gardens are looking good and we would like to congratulate everyone for their hard work in keeping Moulton green and giving so much pleasure to everyone.
However we must bring up the three old chestnuts of dog mess and litter and in particular the broken glass, which are still problems around the village.

Moulton Village Design Statement

After much hard work it has now been completed and approved by the new Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The next step is a  6 week public consultation. It will be publicised within village. We decided to have a table at Pound the Bounds, using the village display stands to catch people’s eye, where people can pick up free black and white copies of  the draft.  It will be available at the Annual Parish Meeting and copies at various places round the village.. Then we will assimilate and consider comments before printing and we hope it will be available for distribution in September. You can download a copy here
