TRAFFIC

We have had several meetings with Bob Hindhaugh from Cheshire Highways and discussed all problems highlighted in the Plan.
He has found the Plan very useful as problems are clearly noted and he has recommended our plan to other villages to use as a model.
As a result of these discussions with IMPP’S, The Parish Council and Ramp the junction of the A533 and Brick Kiln Lane is being upgraded beyond the agreed alterations to include low-level lighting.

A possible other improvement being looked at is a footpath alongside the A533 to Road One Roundabout from the Brick Kiln Lane Junction.
The cat’s eyes on Jack Lane are in need of replacement and this is now on
a programme of repairs.

A replacement of the sign is required to direct traffic to Moulton when coming off the Peckmill Roundabout along London Road towards Davenham. There was until recently a sign at Jack Lane but this has somehow disappeared.

Congestion problems are an ongoing concern within the village and we are trying to get some professional advice on this matter.

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Moulton is reasonably well served by local business and we hope this will continue.
An idea put forward in the Plan was for a register of businesses in the village to be put on a web site.
If we could gather all the information we have a volunteer to create a web site for us.
Any help or ideas you may have for collecting this data will be gratefully received. Contact Fran Bennett

ENVIRONMENT

In Consultation with the Moulton Parish Council we have discussed possible measures for improving our village.

Ideas suggested include

Extra litter bins.
Seating at suitable locations in the village.
Trees to improve the environment where appropriate.

We are part of the Mersey Forest and trees are available on request.

In the Autumn volunteers planted many bulbs in various parts of the village that had been identified before hand.

The Parish Council has sanctioned additional litter bins and but we need your ideas for the location of the bins, trees and seats.

Everything is in the discussion stage please let us know your views.

COMMUNITY and SOCIAL

We have formed two committees to carryout the Action Plans identified in the Plan.

  1. Events Committee.
  2. Youth Committee.

The Events Committee was formed to establish community events, especially the return of the Crow Fair, which we are organising for 2006. Leading up to the Crow Fair we have had a Fun Day in September 2004 and the V.E. celebratory events in May 2005.

IMPP'S VE day Celebrations 7-9 May

VE weekend started on Friday afternoon when Moulton School organised a street party. Unfortunately due to inclement weather the party had to take place indoors. This was followed by games of the period.

On Friday Evening there was a ”Forties Dance” in the Village Hall organised by the Moulton Dance Club. It was MC’d by Dave Watkinson and over forty people attended enjoying traditional dances typical of the era.

School field events on the Saturday started off badly due to the awful weather. Two vehicles got stuck up to their axles and had to be towed out not by one but two Land Rovers. The beer tent was erected in heavy rain and wind but such was the determination to succeed that any thoughts of cancellation were quickly erased.
VE Day Opening

Moulton Adventure Group supplied and erected two marquees used by the WI for their excellent refreshments and an Exhibition of 40’s memorabilia and Geoff Crompton’s books on the Moulton men who were killed in the two world wars.

YOUTH

IMPP volunteers have been working hard since September 2004 to try and establish a youth club for the young people of the village. They established a committee in November 2004 and hosted a consultation event last January to try and find out what the young people and adults of the village would expect to have in a youth club.

The group then organised a social event, Klub Nite, in April 2005, which was attended by over 60 local young people. We are planning another such event on Saturday 25th June in the Village Hall.

Klub Nite 2nd April 2005

The consultation and response of the local young people show there is demand for the club. Volunteers are busy training to run the youth club potentially starting in September 2005.
The group are pleased to have received an offer of grant support from Cheshire County Council Youth Service, for £500. This will help the group to hire premises and cover running costs and insurance.

Fortunately the rain abated but the wind persisted drying the ground enabling the games organised by Moulton Adventure Group to take place. Welly throwing and It’s a Knockout went ahead as scheduled with great enthusiasm.

On Saturday evening an ENSA concert took place. The compare was Dave Watkinson who kept the programme moving in his own inimitable style of jokes and tales.
The Drama Group and various guests with their plays, monologues, mimes, songs and the Sing-a-long made for an entertaining evening enjoyed by all.

The finale was a service in St. Stephen’s church on the Sunday morning led by Rev.Andy Greenhough. The Bostock Brass Band were in full flow and helped
make the service a genuine celebration enjoyed by all. Thanks to the Methodist Church for cancelling their own service so that the whole community could come together.

It is difficult to thank everybody who helped, but the WI, MAG, the electricians who kept the burgers cooking and the Events Committee and helpers coordinated by Peter Hulme, secretary for the event, deserve special thanks.
The Cheshire Regiment, Cheshire Fire Service, Fran Bennett who organised the Exhibition and the Preschool Playgroup also deserve our thanks.

The amount raised £750 will help to fund the Crow Fair and provide new costumes for a revival of the adult Crow Dance in 2006. We will need to make the dance as faithful to the original as possible. Any help with this whether photographs, memories or other information please contact a member of the committee.

Once all documentation is in place, we can achieve validation as a voluntary
group and start activities. We will also need to raise further money to purchase equipment to provide a variety of activities.
After trying to negotiate for various buildings with little success we are delighted that Moulton Adventure Group are willing for us to use their building on a Wednesday evening.
